ABOUT THIS CPD EVENT

SANS 10400-S 4th Edition was published at the beginning of 2026 after being approved for publication in September 2025.

It provides the minimum deemed to satisfy accessibility requirements for buildings as specified in the prescriptive Regulation S1 of the National Building Regulations. This event explains the requirements and highlights the differences between the 3rd and 4th editions.

It should be noted that the new edition includes several new requirements and aligns the minimum requirements of accessible design with those of several international standards.

Architectural Design

​DURATION AND CPD:

​The event is available as a pre-recorded version, lasting ± 6 hours. You may stop and continue later. On the last day of every month, a list of those who have successfully completed the event will be extracted from the system, and CPD certificates will be generated. These certificates will be available on the e-Portal within the first two weeks of the next month.

​It is validated for 0.6 CPD Category 1 points for SACAP-registered professionals.

PRESENTER:

Frans Dekker is the Managing Director of SAIAT and, since 2008, has been involved in presenting CPD workshops for SAIAT. He was also the workgroup convenor at the SABS fot thos 4th edition of SANS 10400-S and is chairing the Universal Access technical subcommittee at the SABS.
